Are you interested in how proper nutrition and skincare can help you maintain a fresh look?
Beautiful skin is a reflection of our health and well-being.
Several weeks before the holidays, we start adjusting our diet.
If we provide the body in time with vitamins that support healthy and beautiful skin, our summer will be more carefree. These vitamins include beta-carotene, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin D.
Beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A in the liver and affects the renewal and function of the skin’s epidermis and mucous membranes. It has beneficial effects on certain skin conditions and wound healing, increases skin pigmentation, shortens the time needed to achieve a beautiful tan and helps it last longer. It also protects the skin from harmful UV rays. The highest amounts are found in rhubarb, carrots, spinach and kale, and in fruits such as melons and apricots. It is also present in mango, cabbage and broccoli, while even higher amounts are found in young leaves of wild plants like nettle, clover, alfalfa, plantain, sorrel, rowan berries, rose hips and algae. These foods should be consumed with olive oil, as fat is needed for proper absorption of beta-carotene.
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin and mucous membranes, reduces fatigue and exhaustion, and protects the body from oxidative stress. Deficiency can cause cracked and swollen lips, cracks at the corners of the mouth, skin changes, normocytic anemia, sore throat and a dark red tongue. Adequate intake is usually achieved through a balanced diet, as riboflavin is found in many foods, especially animal products, grains and green vegetables.
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is a water-soluble vitamin essential for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, amino acids and alcohol. It promotes sebum production in moderate acne, supports regeneration, reduces fatigue and helps release energy during metabolism. Vitamin B5 is widely present in foods, especially legumes, poultry, veal and potatoes.
Vitamin C is a valuable antioxidant that helps prevent skin aging caused by UV radiation, which damages collagen fibers. It plays a key role in collagen synthesis. The richest sources are plant-based foods such as peppers, berries and citrus fruits, and it is also abundant in potatoes.
Vitamin E protects cells from oxidative stress and the skin from free radicals. Requirements can be met mainly through foods rich in vegetable oils, such as wheat germ oil, corn germ oil, rapeseed oil, various nuts and foods fortified with vitamin E.
Vitamin D plays an important role in immune system function and also acts as an antioxidant, helping to prevent wrinkles and maintain youthful, radiant skin. It works like an anti-aging cream from within. Vitamin D also reduces skin inflammation such as acne and rosacea. It is found in only a few foods, including fatty fish, eggs and fortified dairy or fat products, while the largest amount is obtained through sun exposure.
Ensure sufficient hydration and UV protection for the skin
Sun exposure and outdoor or water activities dry out the skin, so it is essential to ensure adequate hydration and prevent dehydration. This can be achieved by drinking enough fluids—at least two liters per day—such as plain water, unsweetened natural lemonade or herbal iced tea. Daily use of moisturizing creams and lotions for face and body is also important, as well as applying richer moisturizing products after sun exposure. This helps maintain optimal skin hydration and a radiant complexion.
Royal Body Care Grape Touch
This rich full-body treatment with grape extracts nourishes the skin, enriches it with antioxidants and leaves it pleasantly scented. The treatment includes a grape scrub for smooth skin, the application of a nourishing body wrap and a relaxing facial massage. It is recommended for all skin types and is especially suitable after sun exposure, when the skin needs hydration, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Face Cream with Sun Protection Factor
Vinoble face cream moisturizes the skin and stimulates its regeneration. It absorbs extremely quickly and does not leave an unpleasant film on the skin that could cause excessive sweating. Of course, it also contains an effective sun protection factor (SPF), ensuring proper protection. Available at the wellness centers of Terme Krka.
