I have already been to Šmarješke Toplice a few times ...
... but this time’s experience left a particularly pleasant impression on me. After demanding months of study, I decided to treat myself to a day by the pool, far from all obligations, as an introduction to the long-awaited summer ...
Already in the morning, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the tranquility, which was almost contagious. On one side of the well-kept park, a small group was performing calm guided exercise, while on the other side, a few people, each on their own bench, were enjoying reading a book. I felt like joining them right away.
I sensed that I had arrived in an environment where time flows a bit more slowly and different priorities apply.
I thought to myself that a really good day was ahead of me, and I could hardly wait to open my new book by the pool as well.
The outdoor pool, in nature, in the middle of the forest, is very suitable for excellent relaxation. A calm environment (without crowds of visitors), natural shade, the sound of birds in nature, and calm songs by Tabu playing from the speaker – priceless. And in the pool, of course, clean water at just the right temperature, so I swam quite a few lengths and awakened my body.
The most beautiful moments were when I simply floated on the surface of the water, with my face turned towards the sky, while the sun’s rays slowly began to penetrate through the clouds. That was pure zen – when the body and mind fall silent and only here and now remains.

I chose a sun lounger under the trees and created my own corner of peace; here, with several dips in the water, I had a good rest while eagerly reading my book, without checking the time or thinking about any obligations. That is exactly what I wanted. At the pool bar, I treated myself to a refreshment, which was more than welcome on this hot day.
I spent a perfect day at the pool. And although it passed too quickly, it left an incredible impression. I felt a sense of calm within me, the kind that is usually sought for a long time, yet sometimes found unexpectedly close. As I was leaving, I knew I would return here soon. Fortunately, Šmarješke Toplice is not far away for me, so I have no excuse not to take more time for myself.
