This Year's Transformations at Strunjan
Talaso Strunjan
Če ste v minulih šestih mesecih obiskali Talaso Strunjan, ste najbrž opazili, da se v tem našem zelenem kotičku slovenske obale dogaja nekaj pomembnega. In to v njegovem osrčju.
Embraced by the Green Mediterranean
For many years, we have cared for the health and well-being of our guests, who appreciate the untouched beauty of our landscape park, the healing properties of the sea, and the warm hospitality of the coastal region. The Strunjan Spa Health Resort has been under Krka management since 1984—over 40 years of continuous improvement, expanding our offerings and increasing our accommodation and spa capacities. Our focus has always been on guest satisfaction, and this modernisation is no exception.
Did You Know?
In the early 1960s, the site where Talaso Strunjan now stands was home to a retreat for military veterans and national liberation fighters. It began with simple bungalows and a building that housed a reception area and restaurant, eventually evolving into the popular Primorka restaurant.
At that time, only part of the beachfront was developed, including a small catering facility, toilets, and storage near an old stone jetty. Today, Talaso Strunjan encompasses Hotel Svoboda, Villa Park, Mihevč’s villas, and the Laguna hotel complex, complete with a separate villa.
We manage nearly 600 metres of Strunjan beach—one of the most popular in this part of the Adriatic. Terme Krka also owns the Pinija restaurant, offering Mediterranean cuisine and Neapolitan pizzas.
Comfort as a Cornerstone of Your Holiday
This year’s renovations include Hotel Svoboda, where we have upgraded 20 rooms and 2 suites, totalling 1,294m² of refreshed space. We have replaced all installations, updated the textile coverings, installed new fixtures, and renovated the bathrooms. The balconies have been waterproofed, with new joinery, railings, and blinds installed, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay for our guests already this summer.
Two New Restaurants Instead of One
To better serve our guests, we have replaced our outdated restaurant with two new, modern dining spaces. The Burin restaurant caters to holiday guests, while the Maestral restaurant is designed for those undergoing medical treatment. Both have been expanded, incorporating space from the former conference hall and partially glazing the outdoor terrace, which now boasts a new roof. Our priority is to ensure that all guests can enjoy their meals in a comfortable, spacious environment.
The Kitchen: Where Strunjan's Flavours Come to Life
Alongside the restaurant renovations, we have completely remodelled and technologically upgraded the kitchen. As one of our chefs described it, the new kitchen is "state-of-the-art, spacious, and beautifully organised." This modern setup not only makes the cooking team’s work easier but also fosters creativity and innovation, even as we prepare an increased number of meals.
A New Reception Ready to Welcome You
Your first step into Talaso Strunjan begins at the hotel lobby, aperitif bar, and reception area—all of which have been newly renovated. This redesign streamlines the check-in process, particularly for guests arriving for medical treatment, allowing both check-in and treatment admission to be completed in one convenient location. You might also notice a new energy in the reception area, perhaps due in part to the striking new artwork by academic sculptor Primož Pugelj. His piece, Ocean's Embrace, now adorns the lobby wall, offering a warm and welcoming greeting to all who enter.

The iron sculpture Ocean's Embrace symbolises the life and vitality of the marine world. The central motif of fish represents freedom and movement, while the rhythm of the school conveys the vastness and depth of nature. The sculpture invites us to experience and connect with the marine world, reminding us of the importance of its preservation.
This phrase aptly describes the past six months in Strunjan. During the peak of the renovations, Hotel Svoboda was closed to guests. However, the Villa Park, Mihevč’s villas, and the Laguna Strunjan complex continued to operate, ensuring that medical treatments remained uninterrupted due to their essential nature.
Despite the challenges of maintaining peace amidst major construction work, we took all necessary measures to protect the areas under renovation, keeping pathways to the restaurant, rooms, physiotherapy, and other medical facilities safe and accessible. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it—we knew that with tolerance, flexibility, and understanding from both hosts and guests, a wonderful summer awaited us. Now, that summer is at our doorstep.
